Rocketeer Charity: Rocketeers Support Paper For Water

Today was charity drawing day at Bottle Rocket and we Rocketeers were treated to something a little extra special this morning during our weekly company meeting. Two sisters, Katherine and Isabelle Adams emerged from our conference room crowd when our president and founder, Calvin Carter called their names. Climbing through the sea of Rocketeers that pack our Enterprise conference room every week, the girls made their way to the front and proceeded to tell us about their charity, Paper For Water.

Katherine and Isabelle started Paper For Water after seeing a video about the lack of clean water for rural families in Ethiopia. Moved by what they saw, they were determined to do something to help. Starting in 2011, the girls began making origami ornaments that they could sell to raise money to build wells in Ethiopia and other developing countries. Since they began, they have grown their charity by raising money from friends, family and neighbors and by receiving support from million dollar companies. Their ornaments and determined efforts led to raising over $136,000 in less than 18 months which has helped fund over 28 wells in Ethiopia and India.

In an effort to help Katherine and Isabelle meet their 2013 goal, Bottle Rocket has made a contribution to their fund for this week’s charity drawing. Also, please be sure to LIKE their Facebook page where you can also find out where in Dallas they’ll be selling ornaments. It’s the holiday season. What better way to celebrate than to buy a beautifully handcrafted ornament for your tree which in turn will help provide clean water to people who desperately need it!
